Buitenland furieus op Ronald Koeman

Ronald Koeman heeft zich maandag niet populair gemaakt in binnen- en buitenland. Zijn uitlatingen over Jeremie Frimpong en Ryan Gravenberch zijn duidelijk niet goed gevallen.

Oranje-bondscoach zwaar onder vuur

Over het niet oproepen van Frimpong verklaarde Koeman op de persconferentie: “Nigel heeft met hem gesproken. Wij zijn niet blij met afzeggingen bij Jong Oranje, we vinden dat hij altijd beschikbaar moet zijn. Maar binnen de KNVB hebben we wel gezegd dat hij voor deze periode niet oproepbaar is. Dat is je plicht als speler, uitkomen voor welk elftal dan ook.”

Gravenberch heeft zich afgemeld bij Jong Oranje en kan een soortgelijke sanctie tegemoet zien. Koeman: “Dat kun je zien als een soort straf. Voor Ryan Gravenberch is het niet zo, daar zijn we niet blij mee. Nigel heeft ook met hem contact gehad. Door middel van goede prestaties bij Jong Oranje kun je een stap maken.”

In Nederland zorgden de uitspraken van Koeman voor ophef, maar ook het buitenland gaat los. Een greep uit de reacties op het sociale medium X:
